How to Refine Your Searches on WinMX
This is something I've mentioned in other pages of help here, but lets go over exactly how you can remove or include words in searches and some tips of finding those more obscure items using WinMX.
Operators There are only two Operators used in WinMX Search:
Use
- Minus sign in front of words to 'exclude' them from search results.
Use
~ Tilde sign (squiggly thing for you highly technical users) to include words in your search results.
This example above will give you any results titled 'free' and include the word 'ebook' and remove any with the words 'badwords' in the title.
Using More or Less Descriptive WordsThis can be a tricky way to refine your search results by using more or less words, mainly knowing when to use more or less. The general rule is if you have tons of results to go through that are not ones you want to get, then add more words to your keywords box. If you are not getting enough results then remove words or try alternative words for it.
Another thing worth mentioning here is to double check spelling is correct. I can't tell you how many times I've searched for keywords only to find out later I missed a letter or exchanged one.
If you continue to have problems after trying the above please visit the forum and post your information so we can look at the issues.
