Settings - Internet Connection - In/Out UDP

In/Out UDP is where you can setup a port you would like for WinMX to relay your Chat Channel list and Searches from. This protocol or port doesn't have a lot of responsibility but frankly if you don't have it set correctly you won't get the full enjoyment out of WinMX.
The new WinMX Community Patch has the ability to forward these ports for you automatically using uPnP in the router, for more information about this feature visit here:
Information about UPnP and the WinMX Community Patch

The default port for WinMX to use for UDP is 6257. As with the TCP, this number can be changed to anything between 1-65535 as long as it's been opened in any firewalls, antivirus, and router or modems that have multiple computer support (act as a router) and it's not in use by any other programs.

The second option on this Setting is the ability WinMX has to allow you to act as a 'Passive Secondary'. What this means is that you are unable to open a port for communications at this time, for whatever reason. This setting allows you to still enjoy the use of WinMX, by depending on a primary for all your port related needs. If when you installed your WinMX the UDP port test it performs failed for any reason, this setting would automatically be used instead. Once you're able to open those ports either in the firewall or routers/modems you can simply manually set them without re-running the UDP test.

Any changes on this page require you to restart WinMX for them to take effect and also they go hand in hand with changes to the Incoming TCP settings so please see that page also before you restart.

Note:  If you happen to have more then one computer on your home network using WinMX, you must use a different set of ports for TCP and UDP for the separate machines.

If you continue to have problems after trying the above please visit the forum and post your
information so we can look at the issues.
